Upscaling efficient alternatives for contentious inputs in organic farming
SCALE‑it is the sister project of BIO², sharing the goal of reducing reliance on contentious inputs in agriculture – but with a clearly complementary focus. While BIO² develops new biological solutions, SCALE‑it builds on existing alternatives and works to validate, demonstrate, and scale them for everyday use in organic farming.
The project brings together research, farmers, companies, and policymakers to take promising nature‑based products, technical tools, and management approaches from earlier research and translate them into real‑world practice. By testing these solutions directly on organic farms and addressing questions of feasibility, acceptance, and regulation, SCALE‑it focuses on what is needed for broad adoption.
Together, BIO² and SCALE‑it cover the full innovation pathway – from developing new biological inputs to ensuring that proven alternatives can be effectively scaled and embedded in organic farming systems, supporting a fair, healthy, and climate‑smart food system.
