At the congress, BIO² was presented through a poster contribution by our Norwegian partners Norsk Landbruksrådgiving (NLR) and Norwegian Centre for Organic Agriculture (NORSØK). The poster introduced the goals and approach of the EU‑funded BIO² project (2025–2028), with a strong focus on field‑based research and practical applicability.

The project works with a wide range of natural raw materials, such as beneficial bacteria and yeasts, nutrients recovered from fish by‑products, microalgae from wastewater treatment, and bioactive compounds from marine macroalgae.

Field trials and farmer involvement in Norway

The poster highlighted ongoing and planned field trials in Norway, including:

• strawberry and potato trials in collaboration with NLR,
• wheat field trials together with NORSØK, with potential expansion starting in 2026.

A key element of BIO² is the close collaboration with farmers through network groups and field testing, ensuring that new products are not only scientifically sound but also relevant, practical and compatible with organic farming systems.

Exchange, feedback and next steps

The Norwegian Organic Congress offered valuable opportunities to exchange with practitioners and advisors, discuss challenges in organic production, and gather feedback on BIO²’s approach. The strong interest in on‑farm testing and circular nutrient solutions confirms the importance of linking research, advisory services and practice.
